Dianna Rynkiewicz

Died: March 18, 2010
Cause: Cancer

Info from Chris Harrington: Dianna was our class treasurer. After high school, she fulfilled her dream of becoming a doctor and caring for the disadvantaged. She graduated from Dartmouth and NYU Medical School and then trained at Harvard to become an infectious disease specialist. Though highly accomplished academically, Dianna's passion was patient care. Her medical training coincided with the emergence of the AIDS epidemic, and the care of HIV/AIDS patients was a focus throughout her career.

Dianna also was an avid runner, rock climber and all-round adventurer. Most of all, she was devoted to the two daughters she had with her husband Jim -- Julia (9) and Emma (6). Dianna most recently practiced in the San Francisco Bay area and lived in Benicia, CA.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dianna's memory may be made to:

From Kathy Brown:  I spoke with Cindy a few weeks before the reunion and she sounded very happy.  At the wake I found out that she was in a near car accident Thursday night and had complained of whiplash.  That night she passed away in her sleep.  She had 2 sons - ages 16 and 14 - she lived for her boys.  She will surely be missed.

Janine Callahan

Died:  around 1990
Cause:  murder victim

From Marian Paquette: Janine was my best friend in high school.  Janine never got her license and walked everywhere.  Last seen in November 1985, her body was found 2 months later in RI.  What a sad story.

From Lisa Segal: Janine was my next door neighbor for 16 years and one of my best friends (along with Toni Seeley) from the old neighborhood.  She was always a very quiet girl - with a very kind and sweet dispositon.  I still think of her often - with fond memories from our childhood.

James C. Carroll

Died:  1998
Cause:  Car accident

In Memory of James Carroll
(from Sheila Carroll)

We lost my brother Jim in car accident on January 12, 1998 - the saddest day of my life.  He was in New Mexico on his way to a Teacher's Conference and his son was in the car with him and survived ( he was 5 years old at the time). Jim went on from High School to Graduate from UMASS Amherst and became a teacher.  He worked in MA for a while at private schools and then received a job offer that he really wanted - to be a teacher on the Navajo Nation Reservation in Arizona.  He moved out to Arizona, married a Navajo woman, and they had a son, Jamie.  Jim loved it in Arizona.  He also received his Masters degree from the University of Kansas. My family was devastated at the loss of Jim.  He was a good son, brother, friend, teacher and touched many lives.  We were so blessed to have him in our lives. Today, Jamie is 14 and is doing excellent. He is a great kid - plays hockey and LaCrosse and has many cousins to keep him busy.  He has Jim's smirk and sense of humor.  He brings us great joy.

John R. Giombetti

Died:  1992
Cause:  brain hemorage

From Frank Piso (Class of 81):  John had suffered 3 different cerebral brain hemorages.  Through months and months of therapy and fight, he was able to recover to about 90% after the first one, but ulimately lost to the last one in 1992. Through it all he never lost his laugh or spirit.  For those of us that knew him, he was always laughing and smiling....it was his trademark.  He was a great friend and he is sorely missed......

M. Michele (Murphy) Reilly, MD.

Died:  2002
Cause:  breast cancer

From Susan Lyon: Even now it's so sad to see Michele's picture and know that she is no longer here.  I'd known her since I was six years old and used to play with her and Joanne Tanis (some of you may remember her) day in and day out.  Michele was single-minded in her determination to be a doctor, despite a few obstacles that came her way.  She became a pediatrician, married a fellow doctor (Mark Reilly from med school) and they had twins (boy and girl) and another girl together.  She had breast and brain cancer and stuck it out for a few years, continuing to practice medicine and raise her family, while maintaining a steadfast spirit.

Kathleen Marie (Nardini) Booth

Died:  2000
Cause:  brain tumor

Kathy lived in Ashland with her husband and two small children.  To compound this tragedy, Kathy's husband, Rick Booth, died of cancer in July 2005.

From Jayne Morrissey: I remember sleeping over Kathy's house in middle school.  We all slept in a tent in her backyard and snuck to 7-11 for snacks in the middle of the night!
